On June 13, 2017, CMA CGM and Maersk Line had announced a binding agreement whereby Mercosul Line CMA CGM would acquire. in Brazil’s domestic container shipping market Mercosul is a leading player with a fleet of four container vessels and around 290 people employed.
The Mercosul executed contract was subject to Brazil regulatory approval and the ending of Maersk’s Hamburg Süd acquisition, both of which have now been finalised.
Last week marking the closing of the acquisition, the transfer of ownership between the two companies was completed.
