India’s Cotton textiles export fell 10% in 3 years

Regarding the cotton textiles export of the country, the Parliament was sent information which has fallen by 10 percent with the comparison to the previous three fiscal years.

The Textile Minister of State, Mr Ajay Tamta has replied in written text to the Rajya Sabha and it has been said that by 10 per cent over the past three years, the overall export of cotton textiles has declined.

By the minister, the data shared in details that from India the cotton textile export was at a value of Rs 70,936 crore in FY 2016-17   where as in the financial year 2015-16, it was at Rs 72,994 and in FY 2014-15 was at Rs 71,913 crore.

The cotton textiles shipments include cotton yarns and other textile yarns, fabrics and made-up articles, cotton-raw waste, and cotton fabrics and made-up products like bed sheets, blankets, and curtains.

With Open General Licence currently, the export of cotton can be carried out. in the import and export of cotton, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is the body from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry helps to facilitate the traders.
