In the coffee marketing year 2016-2017, India’s coffee exports rose by 9.36% that ended in September. in the 2016-17 marketing area, the third largest producer of coffee in Asia is India and the coffee export of the country increased and reached 3,76,873 tonne as per the coffee board. In the marketing year of 2015-16, the export figures were at 3, 44,613.
In the year 2015-16, the main factors that contributed to the hike in exports were recorded high local production of coffee and stronger international rates, as per the board.
In 2016-17 the volume and value of coffee exports rose as per the board data. In 2015-16, the value of realization increased from 153089 by 7.31% to 164284 per tonne in 2016-17. In 2015-16, the total value of coffee exports increased from Rs.5275 crore to Rs.6191.43 crore in 2016-17.
In the 2015-16 year, the supply in the domestic market was enough with the record output of 3.48 lakh tonne of coffee crop. The total coffee exports, the Robusta is usually the highest exported coffee variety making up to 70%. The Arabica variety is the remaining export. The international market like Italy, Germany, Turkey, Russian Federation and Belgium are the major exports.
